Bulldog and Bull Terrier breeds were created in early 19th-century England for the popular spectator sports of bull- and bear-baiting. When those sports were deemed inhumane and became illegal in 1835, dog-fighting sprung up in its place — and thus was the trait for dog aggression bred into the genetic line. But another part of this breed’s genetic makeup is an unwillingness to bite humans. Handlers reaching into the dog-fighting rings wanted to be able to separate dogs without getting hurt themselves. Quite soon the breed developed a reputation as a strong, protective Bulldog puppies, but one also known for being gentle and family-friendly. When these “bulldogs” accompanied immigrants to America they began new careers as all-around farm dogs.
Their jobs included hunting wild game, guarding the property against animal intruders, and providing companionship. In keeping with the “bigger is better” mindset of their new country, the settlers developed a dog larger than it had been in England. In 1898 the UKC, Britain’s equivalent of the AKC, named these bulldogs the American Bulldog Terrier. The AKC decided to recognize the breed in the early 1930s — but under a new name. Intending to separate it from its pit-fighting past, the AKC named it the American Staffordshire Terrier. Since then the American Staffordshire Terrier has been bred for AKC conformation, or dog shows, while the American Pit Bull Terrier has not been. The results are very slight differences in build and in personality.
How To Care For English Bull dogs
The fur care of the English Bulldogs proves to be unproblematic. All you need is a special dog glove to clean the fur, which should be stroked from time to time. Eyes and nose wrinkles, on the other hand, require daily cleaning and grooming to avoid infectious diseases.
Furthermore, bulldogs are very heat-sensitive dogs. Longer walks or excursions should be avoided during a hot period. It is important that the puppy bulldog drinks enough water during this time and can retreat into shady places. At normal temperatures, one or two walks per day are advisable – one of which should be a little longer. Even if English bulldog puppies seem a little sluggish: A lot of exercise and a balanced and healthy diet are important to prevent the unfortunately frequent obesity. In addition, many english bulldog puppies are still struggling with breathing problems, i.e. they get bad air and snore. Other typical diseases are hip problems (HD), allergies, epilepsy and “cherry eyes”, a disease of the nictitating membrane.
English Bulldog Nutrition
The diet of an English Bulldog should be species-appropriate and varied. Dogs are carnivores and their diet should be appropriate. The dog food should be of high quality and have a high meat content. The energy requirement of the dog depends on several factors. For example, age, activity level, size and weight play a decisive role. The dog’s state of health should also not be ignored. For example, dogs suffering from diabetes need special diabetes dog food.
As English Bulldogs tend to be overweight due to their breed, attention should be paid to the correct diet in addition to sufficient exercise. For this purpose, the amount of food should be adapted to the dog’s energy requirements. Depending on the activity level of the four-legged friend, the amount of food must be adjusted. Thus, more active dogs need more energy than dogs that are more comfortable. To be on the safe side, you should put your English Bulldog puppy on a scale regularly.
Breeding and taking care of the English Bulldog
A physically and mentally healthy Bulldog is a very pleasant family and companion dog, who feels just as comfortable in a one-person household as in an extended family. A blue english Bulldog in the house, represents a great happiness for each of these puppy bulldogs – living together with cats, on the other hand, tends to cause problems.
The love of their caretakers is more important than anything else to the otherwise quite undemanding four-legged friend. Whether in single apartments or family homes – A miniature English Bulldog likes to be the centre of attention and enjoys the undivided attention of his humans to the fullest. If the dog is sure of this love, he is a very calm and balanced partner who feels little urge to work and who doesn’t seem to mind the hectic pace of a big city. He trains his owners to be level-headed, but also to persuade them, because it takes a little persuasion to “chase” an English bulldog puppy out the door. Owners of this breed should rather be the opposite of their dog in this respect: It is only if they themselves bring joy in sports and exercise that they will succeed in motivating their somewhat comfortable four-legged friend to go for a longer walk or play outside and convince him of the advantages of physical exercise.

How to care for a French Bulldog
The French Bulldog is a robust and also very frugal dog. Due to its facial wrinkles and other peculiarities, there are, however, some things to consider when caring for it.
If you decide to have a puppy bulldog as your constant companion, it should be a matter of course to obtain information about the nature and character of the puppy bulldog, but also about its nutrition and care, before buying (see also Buying a French Bulldog). By nature, this Bulldog is robust, healthy and can reach an advanced age. Although it does not have high demands in terms of care, some important points should not be ignored, especially here, so that the Bulldog can feel completely comfortable.
⦁ The bulldog puppy has by nature a very short, smooth and shiny fur. This is very pleasant for its owner, because he hardly finds dog hairs in his/her home. Also a regular visit to the groomer can be avoided. The fur of the French Bulldog is not shorn or trimmed. It is completely sufficient to brush it extensively in the direction of the fur from time to time or to remove the loose hair with a nap glove.
⦁ Since it likes to be cuddled and stroked, it likes this attention, which also stimulates the blood circulation of the Bulldog’s skin. During the time of the shedding, i.e. in spring and autumn, the bulldog puppy needs to be brushed more often, because then it loses more hair. If the fur becomes conspicuously dull and lackluster outside this time, this may be due to a wrong diet or a skin disease. In any case a vet should be consulted.
⦁ If the French bulldog puppy has rolled around in the dirt during a walk, simply take a damp cloth and wipe its fur clean. Mostly, however, all dirt has already fallen off during the walk, because due to the short hairs only little sticks to it. If the bulldog has splashed in the stream, he looks forward to a “rubbing massage” with a terry towel at home.

Regularly low-endurance dogs, they need just a moderate measure of activity. They flourish best in mild atmospheres; they promptly overheat and have breathing challenges in blistering climate, and they chill easily in cool temperatures.
For the most part boisterous breathers, our bulldogs will in general snore and wheeze. Many slobber also. They are moderate shedders and their short coats require small prepping. Be that as it may, the wrinkles on the face ought to be cleaned consistently to forestall skin contaminations.
